What a beautiful documentary on such an unexpected topic.

If you take it at face value, you have the story of one man’s life being dedicated to a very specific specialty (sushi making), but this documentary goes so much deeper than that.  Through the exploration of Jiro’s accomplishments and his desire to pass it along to the next generation, we see an honest human portrait, a glimpse of a changing society and a seemingly unintended commentary on the problems generated from our tendencies for mass consumption.

If you even remotely enjoy documentaries, I’d suggest you watch this one.  If you don’t usually enjoy them, but are adventurous, I’d also suggest you give it a try.
